Inventory Update
The Inventory Update utility is used to import information into the Inventory table. The utility can be used to import information into any non-calculated field in the Inventory (when users are logged in as an administrator, these boxes are white). Users do not have the ability to import information into calculated fields (these fields are gray and include fields such as Lost Sales, Qty On Order, etc).
The Inventory Update utility has 2 major steps:
- File Import: The file import step loads the data into a holding area. This is a temporary area where data can be stored and adjusted, if necessary. The data stored in the holding area is not live data.
- Inventory File Update: the inventory file update step loads the data into the inventory file and the data then becomes live, usable information.
