OVERVIEW
The application provides the ability to sell a previously created job package on a ticket. A job package is a collection of parts, labor items, and comments that are frequently sold in combination with one another. Using a job package saves the counterman time by entering one job package SKU at POS rather than each of the individual item SKUs included in the package.
Since a job package will be added to the inventory file, it must have a 3-character manufacturer code and (up to) a 15-character part number. Because a job package can be a combination of different manufacturers parts, and therefore different manufacturer codes, the application will use a 3-character manufacturer code of JOB for all job packages.
Note: This JOBmanufacturer code is stored in the system configuration settings and will be automatically assigned each time a job package is created. If necessary, the job package 3-character manufacturer code can be overridden, but it must be done before any job packages are created! To override the default job package manufacturer code, access TOOLS | SYSTEM SETUP | POS SETTINGS | INSTALLER Packages tab and enter the new 3-character code in the Jobs Default MFG box.
Once a job package is created, an inventory record for that specific job package will automatically be added to the inventory file. On the inventory record, the Mfg field will be populated with the 3-character manufacturer code used for the job package. The Part Number, Description, and Pricing fields will reflect the information entered in the Job Package Wizard and the Detail Type field will be automatically set to Job Package.
The Taxable Flag field in the inventory record is ignored for a job package inventory record. Instead, the tax rate is determined for a job package based on the Taxable Flag that is set for each of the individual inventory records included in the job package. Refer to the Inventory Record for additional information on the Taxable Flag. Refer to the Tax Rate Setup to view the tax rate that will be applied based on the value specified in the Taxable Flag field.
When a job package is sold, the ticket displayed on the screen will not display the individual job package parts (to save space); however, clicking on the job package name will access a pop-up screen displaying the individual parts included in the job package. Although the individual job package parts are not displayed on the main screen, they can be listed on the printed version of the ticket based on the POS Settings shop question.
