Edit / Modify an Existing Customer - Installer

Overview

One of the biggest benefits of creating a customer record for every customer that comes into your store is that you can quickly access information about that customer when he or she returns. The information stored on the customer record can be modified through the Point Of Sale screen or through the back office.

Steps: Edit / Modify an Existing Customer - Installer

  1. Click on the Customer Information box displaying the customer’s name to access the Customer Information screen. (See Retrieving an Existing Customer for more details.)

  1. In the Customer Information screen, click the Edit button at the bottom to modify or change any of the current information in the Customer Record.

    1. Note: Click on the Phone Number in the Customer Information box to go directly to edit the customer information and the cursor will be placed in the Today’s Phone field.

  1. Edit the applicable fields and click OK when finished.

    1. The Today’s Phone field will default to being populated by a phone number listed on the account record. If more than one phone number is available on the customer record, the system will populate the Today’s Phone field based on the following order:

If the Cell Phone field on the customer record does not contain a valid phone number, the system will then continue with the next field listed above. If none of the above fields contain a valid phone number, the counterman will be required to enter a new number in the Today’s Phone field.

    1. The Today’s Phone field number can be changed by selecting one of the customer record phone fields displayed or by keying in a phone number where the customer can be reached. (Note: when the number in Today’s Phone field is modified, the previous selected phone field being used to populate Today’s Phone field will become unselected.)

    2. The Transaction Price Level field will default to the Default Sell Price defined on the Account Record. The default price level can be changed if the Allow Change of Sell Level In POS parameter on the Account Record is set to Yes.

  1. Note: Check the flag Save Changes for this Ticket Only to only apply the changes to the open ticket. If the flag is not checked, the changes will be saved to the permanent customer record.

    1. If the Save Changes for this Ticket Only flag is checked, the Email, Cell Phone, Home Phone, Work Phone, & Pager fields will not be able to be modified; the Today’s Phone field will be able to be modified.

    2. If the Save Changes for this Ticket Only flag is not checked, the Email, Cell Phone, Home Phone, Work Phone, & Pager field can be modified and changes will be saved to the customer record.
