Inventory Detail Sub Types

Inventory records can be classified into one of the Detail Types listed below. These Detail Type values are pre-loaded into the application and are not user defined.

• Battery
• Extended Warranty
• Fractional Part
• Freight
• Gift Certificate
• Inspection Package
• Job Package
• Labor
• Labor - Diagnostic
• Labor - Sublet
• Misc
• Part
• Shop Supplies
• Tire
• Tire Parts
• Tire Service
• Towing
• Used Tire
• Wheel

Inventory Detail Sub-types can be used to further sub-divide inventory records. Once an Inventory Detail Sub-type value has been added to the system, it can then be selected for inventory record classification.

Inventory Detail Sub-types are often used to group similar job package inventory records or inspection package inventory records together. When sub-types are used within a package wizard (job package or inspection package), any package inventory record not assigned a sub-type will be placed in the default sub-type Uncategorized.  In addition, Inventory Detail Sub Types are used on the Tire Parts Screen to group similar parts together.

The following examples illustrate sub-dividing Inventory Detail Types into Inventory Detail Sub Types:

Create a Detail Sub-type by accessing the following table:

TOOLS | SYSTEM TABLES | INVENTORY DETAIL SUB TYPES

• Enter a unique 1 to 3-character code into the Code field.
• Enter the Detail Sub-type description value in the Description field.
• Click the Save icon on the tool bar to add the Detail Sub-type value.
• A message stating Record Updated will be displayed.

A package inventory record can be assigned a Detail Sub-type by selecting a value from:

• Detail Sub Type drop down box in the inventory record screen
  • Assigning a Detail Sub-type value in the inventory record will automatically populate the Inventory Detail Sub Type field in the Job / Inspection Package Wizard.

• Inventory Detail Sub Type drop down box in the Job / Inspection Package Wizard
  • Assigning a Detail Sub-type value for the package will automatically populate the Detail Sub Type field in the inventory record.
